No further comment really necessary. This sort of thing is simply unacceptable in 2009. Especially from a company that purports to promote responsible, permission-based email marketing.

It really is like taking candy from kiddies, but one thing that never changes is how incredibly good f***ing Microsoft is at stealing your money and f***ing everything up.

Today’s screw up:  I needed to move my virtual installation of my paid-for legal copy of Windows XP from one computer to another. Move. Not “duplicate”. Windows XP noticed this (well, that’s amazing in itself) and screamed to mommy, wanting REACTIVATION!!!!

Ok.

So I reactivated. And got told I wasn’t allowed to, ‘cos I’d done it too many times (like about 4).  So I get this amazing dialog:

Yes, I have to call a helpline (probably hosted by HeidiSoft in Alpenschwizerpfloangliswurstelikon, where they speak nothing but some bizarre inbred swiss german dialect) (and have no sense of humour) and read out, yes, Fifty-F***ING-FOUR digits.

I’ve no idea how it would actually pan out, because the phone number given doesn’t work, and the help URL on the page before is invalid.

Maybe I’ll just forget it.

I appear to be on the business spam list of a bunch of shysters called terrapinn, who are promoting yet another of these ersatz "conferences", where a bunch of bored disinterested suits spout marketing presentations to another bunch of bored disinterested suits, who are only in it for the expense account bar tab at the nearest lap dancing joint. Believe me, I've been there, done that. Anyway, at least Terrapinn provide an "unsubscribe" link (yeah, I know, but whatever), which when clicked on produces this nice little popup: terratards.jpg Seven days to "process" ? Sure. In the spam list they go. Suits.

Nokia - Spamming People

I'm happy to launch a new category in this blog today, "Hall of Shame", dedicated to godawful user experiences. And the inaugural entry is.... step on down CLUB NOKIA!! Having just taken delivery on a new Nokia N73 (for business purposes, not real world use), and being heavily encouraged by the bloody thing to sign up to Club Nokia for uncounted wealth and wonderful features, I set about the task. Strike 1: Whilst the prompt to do this comes up in the phone web browser, and includes a direction to go to http://www.nokia.com/clubnokia, this is not a hyperlink. Moron factor 9/10, already. So rather than fiddle about entering a URL, off to the PC. Just as well, probably. Nokia's web site is hardly mobile friendly, at least the Swiss French version isn't (no, there isn't a Swiss Italian version). Strike 2: This part is unbelievable: You cannot choose to NOT get spammed. You have to select "email" or "SMS / MMS", otherwise, f*** off or however you put it in Finland. Snapz Pro XScreenSnapz001.jpg Strike 3: when you finally select how you would like to be spammed, and click on Accept, you then get a new screen in the pop inviting to log on ... huh ?? You tentatively enter the user name and password you've just selected, click on ok, and ... you get back to the registration screen, with an error telling you that the username already exists. At this point you start to wonder if this is because it is stuck in a loop ... or whatever ... or, f%&% it, let's just forget about it. Surely they can do better than this ?
